Water baptism

December 29, 2011

Water baptism is for the remission of sins (Acts 2:38), and sins are remitted (forgiven) in the name of Jesus Christ (Luke 24:47; Acts 4:12; 10:43; 22:16). Since Jesus died for our sins, salvation is given to us through faith in Him and in His name (John 3:16; 20:31; Acts 16:31). In water baptism, we identify with Him, for we are buried with Him into His death and we also rise with Him in the likeness of His resurrection to "walk in newness of life." (See Romans 6:1-8).

Water baptism in the name of Jesus Christ follows the pattern established by the apostles, for the apostolic church always baptized converts in the name of Jesus Christ (Acts 2:38, 8:16; 10:48, 19:5; 22:16). (See also Romans 6:4; Colossians 2:12; Galatians 3:27). At water baptism we call on the name of Jesus for the remission (forgiveness) of sins and the name of Jesus is called upon us. In this way we express our faith in His death for the forgiveness of sins and in His resurrection for a new life in Him. When we use the name of Jesus Christ in water baptism, we fulfill the command of Jesus to baptize in the singular redemptive "name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit" (Matthew 28:19, NKJV).

Acts 2:38-39
38And Peter answered them, Repent (change your views and purpose to accept the will of God in your inner selves instead of rejecting it) and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of and release from your sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. 39For the promise [of the Holy Spirit] is to and for you and your children, and to and for all that are far away, [even] to and for as many as the Lord our God invites and bids to come to Himself.

John 3:5
5Jesus answered, I assure you, most solemnly I tell you, unless a man is born of water and [even] the Spirit, he cannot [ever] enter the kingdom of God.

Mark 16:16
16He who believes [who adheres to and trusts in and relies on the Gospel and Him Whom it sets forth] and is baptized will be saved [from the penalty of eternal death]; but he who does not believe [who does not adhere to and trust in and rely on the Gospel and Him Whom it sets forth] will be condemned.

Acts 4:10-12
10Let it be known and understood by all of you, and by the whole house of Israel, that in the name and through the power and authority of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, Whom you crucified, [but] Whom God raised from the dead, in Him and by means of Him this man is standing here before you well and sound in body. 11This [Jesus] is the Stone which was despised and rejected by you, the builders, but which has become the Head of the corner [the Cornerstone]. 12And there is salvation in and through no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by and in which we must be saved.

When The Lady Of The Night Got The Holy Ghost

September 17, 2011

For many years, I preached annual revivals in a very small West Texas town. The town was so small that after church it was not uncommon for the pastor or saints to drive an hour and a half to Odessa or Midland just to get something to eat.

The pastor was a dear family friend. The church was one that really worshipped and was easy to preach in. They loved the Word and the loved their “Man of God.”

The church had not grown significantly in many years. The little group prayed for reviva...

The power of choice

September 17, 2011

This is one of my favourite Bible stories:

Acts 8:27-39

27And he arose and went: and, behold, a man of Ethiopia, an eunuch of great authority under Candace queen of the Ethiopians, who had the charge of all her treasure, and had come to Jerusalem for to worship,

28Was returning, and sitting in his chariot read Esaias the prophet.

29Then the Spirit said unto Philip, Go near, and join thyself to this chariot.

30And Philip ran thither to him, and heard him read the prophet Esaias, and said,...

Shoes in Church

August 14, 2011

I showered and shaved................. I adjusted my tie.

I got there and sat................. In a pew just in time.

Bowing my head in prayer............ As I closed my eyes.

I saw the shoe of the man next to me....... Touching my own. I sighed.

With plenty of room on either side......... I thought, 'Why must our soles touch?'

It bothered me, his shoe touching mine.. But it didn't bother him much.

A prayer began: 'Our Father'............. I thought, 'This man with the shoes, has no pri...

The Enoch Path ...God just took him... so beautiful... so inspiring!!!

August 14, 2011

Whoever would draw near to God must believe that he exists and

that he rewards those who seek him. Hebrews 11:6

Enoch was just seven generations from Adam, father of Methuselah

and great-grandfather of Noah. He was so close to the Lord,

Genesis and Hebrews proclaim, that God just took him.

What was it about Enoch? Genesis says he walked with the Lord 300

years. Hebrews says he was commended as one who pleased God. Did

his life overlap Adam’s? Did he hear first-hand accounts of

co...

Have fear and reverence for the Lord

August 1, 2011
You who fear the Lord, trust in the Lord! He is their help and
their shield. Psalm 115:11

Have you ever waded into the ocean and experienced the pull of
the undertow? It leaves you with a healthy respect for the power
of the waves and leaves you with a choice for how to interact
with them. You can stay on the beach and simply watch them, step
only into shallow waters where you can easily stand in your own
strength or swim against its force, or you can dive in and
cooperate with the rhythm of t...

Romans 8:14-17; 37-39

For those who are led by the Spirit of God are the children of God. 15 The Spirit you received does not make you slaves, so that you live in fear again; rather, the Spirit you received brought about your adoption to sonship. And by him we cry, “Abba, Father.” 16 The Spirit himself testifies with our spirit that we are God’s children. 17 Now if we are children, then we are heirs—heirs of God and co-heirs with Christ, if indeed we share in his sufferings in order ...

TWENTY TRUTHS TO REMEMBER

July 23, 2011

TWENTY TRUTHS TO REMEMBER

1. Faith is the ability to not panic.

2. If you worry, you didn't pray. If you pray, don't worry.

3. As a child of God, prayer is kind of like calling home every day.

4. Blessed are the flexible, for they shall not be bent out of shape.

5. When we get tangled up in our problems, be still. God wants us to be still so He can untangle the knot.

6. Do the math. Count your blessings.

7. God wants spiritual fruit, not religious nuts.

8. Dear God...

Joy, Peace and Safety

July 11, 2011
Offer right sacrifices, and put your trust in the Lord. Psalm 4:5

Living a godly life – offering right sacrifices – in the present
world is not easy. Satan makes available so many deceptively
pleasurable things that it is sometimes difficult to distinguish
good from evil. Equally disheartening to God’s children are
people who mock and viciously ridicule those who believe in Jesus
as their Savior.

Jude speaks in Scripture of the ungodly and God’s pending
judgment upon them for their act...

God is our refuge

May 23, 2011
The term Most High indicates God's sovereign rule over the entire
universe. Because He is in control of all circumstances, you can
take confidence in the psalmist's testimony. "God is our refuge
and strength, a very present help in trouble." (Psalm 46:1)
"Trust in him at all times, O people; pour out your heart before
him; God is a refuge for us." (Psalm 62:8)

The begining of "The voice of Truth Minitries "

Isabel I live in Oxdrift my passion is the word of God and Bible studies. I love to encourage others to read the Bible and to share their personal testimony. I first started to read my Bible (which was a gift from a friend) back in 1982. After several weeks of reading this precious book I became aware how real the people were and I started to became more and more fascinated about the wonderful living scenes, their personalities and their lives were so real that I couldn't put my Bible down. The more I read the more I felt real freedom in my life, wonderful things unfolded day by day such as healings, miracles and magnificent experiences. First time in my life fear disappear, my kidneys were totally healed, peace and joy flooded my life. In April 15, 2003, after seeking and praying for several weeks I met our precious saviour who baptized me with His presence, fire fall on me it touched the top of my head and ever so gently travel through my body and left at the end of my toes, this was such a phenomenal experience that my life was for ever change. Jesus became my passionate friend who has never fail me, He has always been there for me through all these years. Recently He call me to start "The voice of Truth Minitries" I love to share my passion for the work of God with friends and I am thankful for those who stand with me to make this Ministry a reality.
